Q: What does it cost?
A:
Essentially $110 for 1 minute of video for 1 year. The 2nd year will only be
$36
See "Rates" for more
information.
Q: I know that the clip I want
is somewhere on the video tape / dvd. Will you be able to find it for me.
A:
Yes. This could take a lot of time though and you will
incur extra charges to search thru your tapes/dvd’s. It makes much more
sense for you to find the section you want to use and (if a tape) have it
cued to that point or (if a dvd) take a note of the exact time where the
clip starts and stops. You’re video must be "ready to go." to avoid any
editing / searching charges.
Q :If I’m paying for the 1
minute rate does it have to be a minute long?
A:
If you choose the 1 minute rate, video must be 1 minute long or less,
otherwise you will be charged at the 2 minute rate. Do your homework ahead
of time and make sure that, from where you want your video to start, until
where you want it to finish, is the length you are paying for: e.g. 1 minute
Q: I have many tapes and want
to use scenes from each (birth/1st steps/european
vacation/graduation/wedding).
A:
No problem at all. This will involve video editing at $100 per hour. The
preferred scenes will be edited together either using "cuts" or transitions
like cross-fade, peel, wipe, dissolve or one of many other transitions
Q: Who can watch my video?
A:
Anyone who has the video player of the format you choose installed on their
computer.
Q: Do I have to choose a
format? I don’t have a clue about this technical stuff.
A:
No. QuickTime will be used if you don’t have any preference.
Q: What formats are there?
A:
The three most popular formats are QuickTime, Windows Media and Real Player.
Q: If I choose only QuickTime,
will someone with only a Windows Media Player on their computer be able to
see it?
A:
They would first have to download the free QT player, otherwise, no they
wouldn’t be able to play it.
Q: Which format do you
recommend?
A:
QuickTime is used by both PC and MAC so it has a broader user base, but as
long as the people you want are prepared to download the player for the
format you choose, it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference.
Q: Do I need a web site for my
video to be played?
A:
No. Your video will be hosted at spivideo.com unless you request otherwise.
Q: I have my own website but
don’t know how to get video on it.
A:
If you know how to update your website, insert an HTML tag, and are able to
upload the video file to your site, that’s all you need to get the video to
play.
Q: Can I email my video to
friends?
A:
You can’t email the actual video file, but you can copy the web page url
into your email. Your friends can just click on the link and view the video.
Q: Does the link have to say "spivideo.com"
in it?
A:
If that’s a problem for you, there’s an easy way to solve it.
Q: What does it cost to put my
video on the web?
A: It depends on
1. How long it is
2. Whether it needs editing first.
3. Whether you have your own web site
or not.

Q: I have a video file on my
computer with the extension .avi or .mov or .rm. Can I get that on the
web?
A: Yes. All you need to do is
get it onto a cd (up to 800MB or dvd (up to 2,6GB ???)
You can use a
program like Easy CD Creator or Nero or some other cd burning software to
burn it to cd.
The file can
then be uploaded from the cd or dvd to the web site.
Q: What happens if I forget to
pay the 2nd year?
A: An invoice will be sent to
you in plenty of time to remind you that the yearly hosting fee is due. If payment is not received by the due date, the video will be removed and a charge of $30 will be incurred to
re-install
